Cortisol: Your Body’s Quiet Messenger of Internal Stress


We’ve been taught to see cortisol as the “stress enemy.” But cortisol isn’t about emotion—it’s a messenger inside your body, helping coordinate energy, metabolism, and daily rhythms.

Metabolism is the process your body uses to convert food into energy for everything from breathing to cellular repair. Cortisol is the conductor of that process. When internal stress occurs—whether from fluctuating blood sugar, disrupted sleep, or physical demands—cortisol quietly reshapes metabolism to keep energy flowing where it’s needed most.
